Sarvesh Gupta, a final‑year BSc (Hons) Physics student at Chandigarh University, secured All India Rank 1 in IIT JAM 2026 (Physics) among over 12,000 candidates.
He qualified the TIFR Graduate School exam (20,000‑25,000 applicants) and the IUCAA INAT‑2026, and will join TIFR’s Integrated PhD in Theoretical Physics.
Chandigarh University highlighted its focus, allocating Rs 15 crore for research, boasting 17,000 publications, 5,000 patents, and partnerships with firms like Microsoft and IBM.
He will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 25,000 in the first year, rising to Rs 37,000 and later Rs 42,000 after PhD registration.
