Overview
On June 22, 2026, Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh (CU UP) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Film Society of India (FSI) to create a dedicated Film Gurukul Studio on the university campus in Lucknow, India. The MoU was executed between CU UP’s School of Media Studies and FSI in the presence of Dr. TP Singh, Pro Vice‑Chancellor of CU UP, and Dr. Durgesh Pathak, President of FSI, along with other senior university officials.
Programme Details
The collaboration will provide students with industry‑oriented training, including internships, workshops, masterclasses, exposure to live industry projects, and guest lectures delivered by FSI’s extensive network of filmmakers, media professionals, and cultural practitioners. Short‑term courses and specialized training programmes will cover storytelling, cinematography, editing, sound design, production processes, and other critical aspects of the creative industries, blending theoretical knowledge with practical learning.
Film Gurukul Studio
The proposed Film Gurukul Studio will serve as a dynamic learning space where students can undertake practical projects, receive mentorship from industry experts, and gain hands‑on experience with contemporary filmmaking practices. It is intended to nurture entrepreneurship and innovation within the media, entertainment, and creative arts sectors.
Joint Activities
CU UP and FSI will jointly organize film festivals, media conclaves, screenings, cultural events, and collaborative research, publications, and creative media projects of academic and cultural significance.
