Changan Group Announces SDA Pilot ADAS at Chongqing International Auto Exhibition
On 14 June 2026, at the 28th Chongqing International Auto Exhibition in Chongqing, China, Changan Group displayed its full brand lineup – CHANGAN NEVO, CHANGAN DEEPAL and AVATR – and officially introduced its self‑developed Advanced Driver‑Assistance System (ADAS) named SDA Pilot. Chairman Zhu Huarong stated that Changan will collaborate with global partners and users to make ADAS more practical and accessible, emphasizing that the technology is intended to protect every journey.
The company confirmed that the CHANGAN NEVO Q06 will come equipped with SDA Pilot as a standard feature across all trim levels, with market entry slated for the second half of 2026 in the domestic market.
SDA Pilot Tier Structure
SDA Pilot is offered in three tiers. The entry‑level SDA Pilot Pro includes LiDAR capable of detecting obstacles in low‑light environments such as night or tunnels up to two seconds faster than the human eye, and it operates on the SDA Central Ring Network Architecture that reduces response time by an additional 150 milliseconds. The mid‑tier SDA Pilot Max is trained on more than 20 million high‑quality real‑world driving data segments, delivering enhanced perception and predictive capabilities for complex, high‑frequency commuting scenarios. The top‑tier SDA Pilot Ultra integrates a Vision Language Model (VLM), markedly improving environmental perception and enabling interactive advanced driver‑assistance functions that turn the vehicle into an intuitive travel companion. Changan also indicated that an active driver incapacitation protection function will be added in the future to further safeguard safety. The release reiterated that driver assistance does not equate to autonomous driving and that drivers must continuously monitor and be ready to take control.
Strategic Context – "1445" Global Strategy
The launch aligns with Changan’s "1445" Global Strategy, which underpins four transformation priorities: intelligent mobility, electrification, a unified ecosystem, and globalization. Intelligent mobility is positioned as the primary driver, with the company aiming to rank among the world’s top ten automobile brands by 2030. Since establishing its intelligent R&D team in 2009, Changan has built China’s only national key laboratory for intelligent vehicle safety technology – the CHANGAN SDA LAB – which supports round‑the‑clock global collaborative testing across more than 400,000 virtual simulation scenarios. Over the past five years, more than 2,000 Changan engineers have completed over 5 million kilometres of real‑road testing in Chongqing’s complex road network, covering 185 typical driving scenarios; this extensive field experience is embedded in SDA Pilot.
Global Footprint and Recent Performance
To date, Changan operates 22 overseas manufacturing bases with an annual production capacity of 350,000 vehicles, and maintains 1,124 overseas sales outlets across 118 countries and regions, having launched 41 global models. In 2025, overseas sales reached 637,000 vehicles, representing an 18.9% year‑on‑year increase. Since the start of 2026, the group has launched the Vast Ocean Plan 2.0 at AutoChina 2026 in Beijing, outlining four core principles – long‑term development, localisation, systematisation, and responsible ESG practices – and has entered a partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation to become the Official Global Partner of the Portugal National Football Team, using sport to deepen global user connections and brand engagement.
