Chatha Foods Launches Dedicated Vegetarian Manufacturing Facility

On October 5, 2026, Chatha Foods Limited announced the commencement of commercial production at its new dedicated vegetarian manufacturing unit, CFL Unit II, situated in Village Toffanpur, Dera Bassi (SAS Nagar), Punjab. The plant occupies a 3.5‑acre site and is equipped with an installed annual capacity of 16,000 metric tonnes, making it the company’s first facility solely focused on vegetarian products.

The fully automated complex consolidates production lines for cold‑pressed breads, retort cooking, forming and coating, and IQF/blast freezing, complemented by integrated research‑and‑development, automated packaging and a cold‑chain dispatch system that ensures consistent quality and end‑to‑end traceability. Under the Unifayre brand, the facility will produce three core categories:

  • Breads such as tortillas, Roti Canai, traditional roti, Kathi‑roll wraps and Malabari parathas;
  • Cooking bases including retorted gravies, pastes and non‑mayo sauces for restaurants, hotels and quick‑service kitchens;
  • Snacks and sides comprising vegetable and paneer patties, nuggets, kebabs, samosas and handmade spring rolls.

These capabilities enable customers—including quick‑service restaurant (QSR) chains, HoReCa operators, institutional buyers and private‑label partners—to consolidate sourcing, accelerate product development and scale production across a wide range of menu applications, from wraps and rolls to ready‑to‑serve rice meals and curries.

Managing Director Paramjit Singh Chatha remarked that the launch represents a defining milestone in the company’s growth journey, noting that vegetarian food constitutes a large and expanding share of India’s out‑of‑home consumption and that the Unifayre platform is built to serve kitchens ranging from national QSR chains to single cloud kitchens.

With the addition of the vegetarian unit, Chatha Foods’ manufacturing network now comprises three specialised facilities: the 16,000 MT vegetarian plant at Dera Bassi, a 7,800 MT non‑vegetarian plant in Mohali, Punjab, and a 7,000 MT non‑vegetarian joint‑venture plant in Aurangabad with the Allana Group. Collectively, the network delivers an integrated annual capacity of 30,800 MT, supporting more than 5,000 food outlets, restaurant brands, cloud kitchens, institutional customers and international markets across both vegetarian and non‑vegetarian product lines.

Founded in 1997, Chatha Foods Limited is a listed Indian manufacturer of chicken and vegetarian food products, operating under its own food‑service brand Unifayre and leveraging a joint venture with the Allana Group for its Aurangabad facility.
