Tournament Overview

Clubb Canopy, located in Sector 118, Mohali, concluded the second edition of the Indian Padel Tour’s City Open Chandigarh, a leg of the Mercedes‑Benz Indian Padel Tour 2026–27 season. The event ran for four days from September 24 to September 27, 2026, and saw a sharp rise in participation with 95 teams entering the competition, compared with 35 teams in the previous edition. More than 192 players competed, and the venue welcomed over 400 spectators and guests.

Geographic Reach and Categories

Players travelled from across India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gujarat, Goa, Jammu, Punjab and the Chandigarh Tricity, underscoring the expanding competitive reach of padel in the country. The tournament featured seven categories: Men’s Beginner, Men’s Intermediate, Men’s Advanced, Men’s 40+, Women’s Beginner, Women’s Intermediate and Women’s Advanced.

Prize Pool and Competitive Highlights

A total prize pool of ₹2 lakh was allocated across the seven categories. The knockout stage became more competitive, with matches extending late into the night. In the Men’s Beginner quarter‑final, the pair of Jasmer Kapani and Rohan Jain faced Bhavuk Dua and Jeetpal Chauhan; Kapani twisted his ankle near the net, received medical attention, and the pair still won 9‑6 to reach the semi‑finals. In the Men’s Advanced quarter‑final, Chandigarh duo Yuvraj Kooka and Samin Bhargava faced Delhi pair Raaghav Bagga and Yuvraj Mehta, securing victory after a 1‑1 tie‑breaker with a 9‑7 score, buoyed by strong home‑crowd support.

Category Winners and Final Scores

  • Men’s Beginner: Ajitesh Kaushal and Vidur Ahuja defeated Gautam Kaushal and Suvir Singh 7‑5, 3‑6, 14‑12 in the deciding tie‑break.
  • Men’s Intermediate: Vansh Bhagtani and Yash Nagdev beat Sagar Ahuja and Nivesh Poddar 4‑6, 6‑2, 6‑1.
  • Men’s Advanced: Paramveer Bajwa and Samar Malhotra overcame Yuvraj Kooka and Samin Bhargava 6‑2, 6‑2.
  • Men’s 40+: Akshay Jalan and Ankit Agarwal defeated Mukul Kumar and Kanwar Dhillon 6‑2, 6‑0.
  • Women’s Beginner: Bhavya Wadhawan and Shrawasti Kundiliya beat Hridaya Patel and Rushali Singh 6‑1, 6‑0.
  • Women’s Intermediate: Ishika Kankaria and Gul Arora triumphed over Amaya Kothari and Kyra Pereira 6‑4, 4‑6, 6‑2.
  • Women’s Advanced: Mansi Malhotra and Vaibhavi Deshmukh defeated Aashna Mehra and Radhika Vasudeva 6‑2, 6‑3.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by distinguished Guests of Honour: Shri Rakesh Kaushal, former IPS officer and former DIG of Punjab; Mrs. Anjum Moudgil, Indian shooter, Arjuna Award recipient and two‑time Olympian; and Mr. Harjyot Singh, CEO of Joshi Auto Zone. The dignitaries presented trophies and recognized the winners and finalists across all categories.

Anirudh Kaushal, founder of Clubb Canopy, highlighted the “phenomenal” growth from the previous year, noting the increase in both player numbers and spectators, as well as the heightened level of competition.
