Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited announced on 29 July 2026 that it has successfully completed its 2025 Sustainability & Social Impact Strategy and unveiled its 2030 SMILE Strategy, the next phase of its “We Make India Smile” journey.
2025 Sustainability & Social Impact Achievements
- The flagship Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program has engaged approximately 195 million children and families since 1991, including about 26 million children and families across 15 states since 2020.
- In FY2025‑26 the company empowered more than 237,000 beneficiaries, primarily women, through financial and digital literacy programmes in 650 villages, enhancing financial inclusion and access to government welfare schemes.
- 100 % of Colgate toothpaste manufactured in India has been converted to recyclable tubes, and the company maintained zero product recalls for over ten years while providing 100 % ingredient transparency on its digital platforms.
- Under India’s Extended Producer Responsibility framework the company achieved 101 % plastic‑waste neutrality.
- Carbon emissions from Indian operations fell 43 % compared with the FY2020‑21 baseline.
- Renewable electricity supplied 60 % of the electricity consumed across its four manufacturing plants.
- All four facilities retained TRUE Platinum Zero Waste certification, collectively diverting 7,607 metric tonnes of waste from disposal, of which 4,891 MT were recycled and 2,716 MT reused.
- The company remained water‑positive at the country level, with 95 % of its packaging now recyclable, reusable or compostable.
2030 SMILE Strategy Targets
The 2030 roadmap sets the following quantitative goals:
- Reach an additional 245 million children and their families through the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® programme.
- Reduce virgin‑plastic usage by 33 % relative to the 2019 baseline.
- Design 100 % of packaging for recycling.
- Source 100 % renewable electricity across all industrial operations.
- Strengthen water‑resilience across priority value‑chain locations.
- Achieve Net‑Zero emissions across the value chain by 2040, excluding Scope 3 optional emissions as defined by the SBTi Net Zero Standard.
