Launch Overview

On International Coffee Day, 1 October 2026, The Coorg Coffee Club and Greek specialty coffee retailer Coffee Island unveiled The Origin Box in Athens, Greece. The ceremony was formally conducted by the Indian Ambassador to Greece, Shri Ravi Shankar, and attended by senior leadership from both companies, media representatives and coffee enthusiasts.

The Origin Box Details

The Origin Box comprises five specially processed coffees sourced from five distinct estates in Coorg, Karnataka. Each coffee is named after its estate and the individual grower, and the box showcases three coffee species—Arabica, Canephora (Robusta) and Excelsa—within a single package. Every lot is fully documented from harvest, through fermentation, drying and roasting, allowing consumers to trace each cup back to its origin. The Coorg Coffee Club works with ten estates in total; the first edition presents five of these.

Market Reach

The collection is now available on shelves in more than 400 Coffee Island stores across Greece and Cyprus. Coffee Island operates over 500 stores in 14 countries on four continents, with the Greek and Cypriot network accounting for the majority of its European footprint.

Partner Backgrounds and Sustainability

The Coorg Coffee Club describes itself as a tech‑driven specialty coffee processing company that unlocks premium Indian coffee for global markets. It emphasizes shade‑grown cultivation in the Western Ghats, where coffee plants grow beneath native trees such as rosewood, mahogany, cedars, figs, jackfruit, oranges and avocados, delivering flavor notes of citrus, spices, chocolate and caramel. Ms Sunalini Menon, Founder of Coffee Lab, India, highlighted this shade‑grown heritage and welcomed the arrival of Indian coffees in Greek homes.

Coffee Island’s strategy focuses on making specialty coffee accessible through direct trade. Panagiotis Konstantinopoulos, Managing Director of Coffee Island, noted that the partnership brings the finest Coorg beans to European consumers, bridging cultures and showcasing Indian farmers’ work.
