Cothas Coffee Co. Wins Legacy Continuity Award at FKCCI MSME Excellence Awards 2026
Cothas Coffee Co., a Bengaluru‑based filter‑coffee house founded by Sri Krishnaiah Chetty in 1949, was honoured with the Legacy Continuity Award during the FKCCI MSME Excellence Awards 2026 held on 17 June 2026 in National. The award recognises three generations of uninterrupted craft, maintaining the original blend’s taste and quality for 77 years.
The award ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for MSME Smt. Shobha Karandlaje and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, who presented the accolade to the company’s leadership.
Chairman Mr. C.K. Sreenathan said the award belongs to the founder, the coffee growers of Kodagu and Chikmagalur, and the millions of families that drink Cothas coffee, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to tradition and relevance. Managing Partner Mr. C.S. Nitin, representing the third generation, highlighted the evolution of distribution—from quick‑commerce deliveries to Liqcaf vending‑machine brews and cold‑beverage formats—while preserving the original flavour.
Cothas sources its beans from estates in Kodagu and Chikmagalur, roasts and blends them at its 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The company now operates more than 75 company‑owned stores and reaches consumers through general and modern trade, quick‑commerce platforms, and its own retail network. Its Liqcaf vending‑machine business supplies freshly brewed coffee in office and public spaces.
The product portfolio includes filter‑coffee powder, decoctions, instant coffee and cold beverages. Export markets span the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, catering to the Indian diaspora abroad.
The press release notes that the award serves as a reminder to sustain three generations of craft for future consumers. (Disclaimer: The release is provided under an arrangement with NRDPL; PTI assumes no editorial responsibility.)
