CreditAccess Grameen Secures USD 175 Million ECB Facility
CreditAccess Grameen Limited, headquartered in Bengaluru, announced the signing of a USD 175 million syndicated social loan facility that qualifies as an External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) under the Reserve Bank of India’s automatic route. Standard Chartered Bank and DBS Bank acted as Joint Mandated Lead Arrangers and Bookrunners, and the syndication attracted participation from ten financial institutions across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, namely Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) and DBS Bank (GIFT City) as anchors, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (Sri Lanka), The Korea Development Bank (South Korea), Sampath Bank PLC (Sri Lanka), SBI (Mauritius) Ltd, BCP Bank (Mauritius) Ltd., Al Masraf (UAE), The National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah (P.S.C.) (UAE) and KEXIM Asia Ltd. (Hong Kong).
The transaction marks CA Grameen’s fifth ECB syndication in the past five years, bringing the cumulative amount of ECB funds mobilised by the company to USD 640 million. Foreign borrowings now represent approximately 24 % of the company’s liability profile, with lenders spread across 15 countries. During FY27 the company also raised INR 940 crore through private placements of non‑convertible debentures, priced broadly in line with its average cost of borrowing.
Commenting on the closure, Chief Financial Officer Nilesh Dalvi said the facility was priced competitively despite global macro‑economic uncertainties and heightened competition from FCNR(B) deposits, underscoring the strength of CA Grameen’s franchise, its corporate‑governance standards and its deep customer relationships in India’s hinterland. He added that the firm will continue to diversify funding sources, optimise funding costs, maintain a robust asset‑liability management profile and strengthen balance‑sheet resilience to support sustainable growth and its long‑term financial‑inclusion mission.
CreditAccess Grameen operates in 457 districts across 16 Indian states and one union territory through 2,276 branches, offering a lifecycle credit suite to low‑middle‑income households, including group loans, individual business loans, secured business loans, affordable housing loans and two‑wheeler financing. The company’s promoter is CreditAccess India B.V., a multinational focused on inclusive financing and backed by leading global institutional investors.
