Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd Honoured with Mahatma Award 2026

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd (Crompton) was awarded the Mahatma Award 2026 in the Community Initiatives category, an initiative of the Mahatma Foundation hosted by Liveweek Group, in recognition of the impact generated by its Crompton CSR Foundation (CCF).

Project Jal Jeevan – Water Security and Rural Livelihoods

The programme operates in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra and in Sirohi and Pali districts of Rajasthan, addressing declining groundwater levels and erratic rainfall. During FY 2024‑26 the project:

  • Rejuvenated 378 water structures, creating a storage potential of 27,315 lakh litres.
  • Added 2,253 acres to cultivated area and reached 1.67 lakh farmers, including more than 50,000 women.
  • Engaged 1,468 self‑help groups (SHGs) in participatory water budgeting and management.
  • Reported a 16% increase in household incomes in the intervention areas.

An independent third‑party impact assessment found that water in wells and borewells became accessible 20‑60 feet shallower, crop yields rose 100%, 84% of farmers diversified into higher‑value crops, and the share of households earning Rs 1.5‑2 lakh annually rose from 13% to 25%. Seasonal migration ceased for 70% of the assessed households, underscoring the link between water security, agricultural productivity and livelihood resilience.

Project Saksham – Women’s Technical Skilling and Employment

Implemented with Tata STRIVE, Project Saksham aims to increase women’s participation in traditionally male‑dominated electrical and technical occupations. In FY 2024‑26 the initiative:

  • Provided Assistant Electrician training to 102 women.
  • Secured employment for 92 women, achieving an approximate 90% placement rate.
  • Generated annualised income opportunities of Rs 1.01 crore based on first‑year salaries of the placed candidates.
  • Upskilled 75 women already employed in manufacturing facilities in Goa and Baddi, enhancing their technical and supervisory capabilities.
