The Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, successfully conducted a four-week Summer Internship Training Programme during May and June 2026. The program provided industry-oriented, hands-on training to 8,083 engineering students from 22 States and Union Territories across India, including 26 international students from Sudan and Yemen. Participants ranged from first-year to final-year engineering students, including those from premier institutions such as IITs and NITs.
The training covered 39 engineering and emerging technology domains, with the highest participation in Artificial Intelligence (1,748 students), PLC Programming (1,000 students), AutoCAD (991 students), Python Programming (413 students), and Data Analytics (392 students). Discipline-wise participation was led by Mechanical engineering with 3,193 candidates, followed by Electronics with 2,209, IT & Software with 1,948, Civil with 388, and other emerging domains accounting for 345 students. The program focused on bridging the gap between classroom learning and industrial practice, with emphasis on emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, and Additive Manufacturing.
CTTC Bhubaneswar serves as a premier institution for tool design and manufacture, providing services to MSMEs in auto parts, high precision parts, and general engineering sectors. The center has significant contributions to aerospace and defense sectors, having manufactured and supplied 437 types of 54,000 precision components to ISRO for the Chandrayaan-3 Mission launched on July 14, 2023. It also supplied precision components such as regulator, flow control valves, gyroscope, temperature sensor, and navigation parts to ISRO for the Aditya-L1 Mission launched on September 2, 2023. Additionally, CTTC has manufactured high-precision components for Original Equipment Manufacturers in the defense sector, including components for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme.
