Event Overview
The Information Office of Dalian Municipal Government announced that Dalian will host the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, organized by the World Economic Forum, from June 23 to June 25, 2026. This marks the ninth time the Summer Davos event collaborates with Dalian.
Participation
The conference will welcome over 1,700 guests representing more than 90 countries and regions, setting a record high for registration.
Theme and Objectives
Centered on the theme “Innovation at Scale,” attendees will explore how to unlock new growth models and generate positive economic momentum through innovation and cutting‑edge technologies amid rapid global transformations.
Dalian’s Innovation Profile
Dalian positions itself as a gateway for China’s opening‑up, transitioning from a traditional industrial base to a regional science‑technology innovation centre with national influence. At Yinggeshi Science City, national‑level researchers are achieving breakthroughs in frontier fields such as catalysis and high‑end bearings. In the High‑Tech Zone, specialised, refined, unique and innovative (SRDI) enterprises are converting laboratory data into tangible products, exemplified by a “hydrogen‑powered heart” that addresses drone endurance challenges and advanced industrial software solutions.
Energy Transition Initiatives
The city, a national petrochemical base, leverages its research advantages and geographic position to drive the traditional energy and chemical sectors toward a “high‑end, intelligent, and green” transformation. Backed by institutions like the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Dalian is making breakthroughs in energy catalytic conversion and fine chemicals, offering a resilient “Dalian Solution” for the global energy transition.
Conference Services and Sustainability
In preparation for the event, Dalian has upgraded infrastructure and service details. As a national low‑carbon pilot city, new‑energy vehicles (NEVs) will constitute the majority of the conference’s service fleet, underscoring the city’s commitment to green travel. Network capabilities at the venues have been significantly enhanced with 5G‑A technology.
Cultural Activities
Beyond the conference halls, participants can enjoy urban events such as the Cherry Festival and Beach Festival, engage in fishing, or take a “city walk” to experience Dalian’s scenery.
