2026 Cricket Calendar and Strategic Initiatives
Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB) issued a press release on 12 June 2026 from Essen, Germany and Mumbai, India outlining an extensive 2026 programme. Following the successful five‑match T20 International “Austria Tour of Germany”, DCB will launch the German Super League – Berlin edition on 8 June at Mayfeld, adjacent to the OlympiaStadion, featuring 43 T10 matches contested by the ten best clubs from the Berlin region. Legendary English umpire Billy Bowden will serve as special guest and will officiate the final.
President Severin Weiss emphasized the need for a robust domestic structure to grow cricket from the grassroots, while CEO Dieter Voight detailed plans for up to eight domestic tournaments delivering roughly 300 matches in total and four international events. The flagship international event is the Nordic Cup in August, a women’s tournament that will involve five national teams – Germany, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and a fifth participant. Germany will also host bilateral women’s series, beginning with a match against Switzerland in July. The men’s side aims to break into the top‑30 of the ICC T20 rankings after a 4‑1 series win over Austria, with Donovan Miller appointed head coach and captain Musadiq Ahmed, the series’ leading batsman and man of the series, retained as skipper.
The federation highlighted a comprehensive marketing strategy that combines digital outreach, influencer collaboration and multi‑platform broadcasting. Dr Vignaesh Sankaran, Vice President, noted that the Austria‑Germany series generated more than five million impressions and that viewership has risen by over 150 % since the partnership with SMW Global Media began. Influencer Liz Laz was engaged to extend reach to new audiences.
DCB has entered a strategic partnership with SMW Global Media, granting the agency exclusive commercial‑rights responsibilities for event production, ground branding, sponsor‑asset delivery and the creation of consistent digital content. SMW executive director Azhan Ahsan stated that the collaboration will enable clean, high‑quality broadcasts on modest budgets, expand commercial value and position Germany as a leading European cricket market.
The most recent event was streamed live worldwide on platforms including FanCode, Action Sports, Unbeaten +, Unbeaten Prime, SportVot, Cricket Lounge TV and DCB’s official YouTube channel, and was supported by data and scoring partners such as ESPN and Olympics.com.
