Announcement

On September 23, 2026, DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) unveiled a coordinated, flexible pathway that allows participants in SPJIMR’s Global Management Programme (GMP) to continue into DeGroote’s Master of Finance (MFin) or Master of Management in AI and Analytics (MMAIA) programmes.

Structure of the Pathway

The initiative requires students to complete six months of study at SPJIMR’s Mumbai campus, after which one semester of coursework is transferred to the selected McMaster programme. This credit recognition shortens the overall length of study and grants graduates dual alumni status with both institutions.

Programme Tracks and Timing

Students may choose between two GMP tracks: (1) Digital Transformation and AI & Analytics, and (2) Finance and FinTech. Admissions are coordinated between SPJIMR and McMaster, each applying its own entry requirements. GMP participants for the MMAIA track begin in January and commence studies at McMaster in September, while those targeting the MFin track start the GMP in June and move to McMaster the following January.

Support Services

While in Mumbai, participants attend joint online career workshops covering résumé preparation for the Canadian market, professional narrative development, and interview practice. Upon arrival at McMaster, students gain access to the university’s career services, internship opportunities, industry‑partner projects, and available scholarships.

Strategic Alignment and Institutional Highlights

The partnership expands DeGroote’s global collaboration network, which already includes partners across Europe, the U.K., the U.S., and Canada, and aligns with the “Bolder Together” strategic plan to match international partnerships with teaching and research strengths. DeGroote is AACSB‑accredited and was ranked #1 in Canada for student services in the Maclean’s University Rankings 2026 and #4 in Canada in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.

SPJIMR, part of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, is recognised in the Financial Times Masters in Management 2026 ranking as #26 globally and #2 in India, and in the Financial Times Global MBA 2026 ranking as #74 globally for its PGPM programme. It holds the Triple Crown of accreditations (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA) and was named among the world’s top five business schools for societal impact by the Positive Impact Rating.
