Press Release Overview

Femina magazine, one of India's most iconic women's publications, has placed Devita Saraf – Founder, Chairperson and CEO of The Vu Group – on the cover of its June 2026 Power List: The Legacy Edition. The cover story, titled "Power Suits Her", presents a candid portrait of Saraf’s leadership philosophy, her concept of "soft power," and her approach to blending ambition with personal joy.

Leadership and Business Profile

Saraf, a graduate of the University of Southern California, the London School of Economics and Harvard Business School, founded the Vu New Product Development Lab at age 24 in California and Mumbai, later evolving it into The Vu Group, a consumer‑electronics conglomerate. Under her direction, Vu has become the highest‑selling Indian‑owned TV brand globally, reporting revenue of Rs 1000 crore (approximately $120 million) and having sold over 4 million televisions to date. The organisation now employs roughly 300 people, reflecting her shift from a solo hustle to building a team of leaders.

Creative Ventures and Soft Power Philosophy

Saraf highlights several creative initiatives: launching Dynamite by Devita, described as the world’s first perfume created for businesswomen; designing jewellery; and contributing articles to The Wall Street Journal. She also introduces her "soft power dressing" concept, which reimagines boardroom attire for the curvier Indian body by merging structured authority with femininity, rather than mimicking masculine silhouettes.

Personal Narrative and Iconic Cover Detail

A notable element of the cover is a light‑pink Hermès sari, a one‑of‑a‑kind piece produced when Hermès entered India in 2011. Unable to purchase it then, Saraf asked her mother to buy it with a promise to wear it on a momentous occasion. Over a decade later, she fulfilled that promise by featuring the sari on the Femina Power List cover, describing the moment as a true alignment of dream and opportunity.

Public Engagements and Policy Involvement

Saraf has presented the “Make in India” manufacturing policy to the Prime Minister at the Champions of Change CEO Summit, reinforcing her role as a public‑policy advocate. She is widely regarded as a pioneer of the "Model CEO" ethos, emphasizing that boardroom excellence and personal brilliance are complementary.
