Overview

Dharana, situated in the Sahyadris biodiversity hotspot of Maharashtra, announces a reimagined wellness retreat that blends advanced scientific diagnostics, traditional Ayurveda, and the restorative power of the surrounding forest. The property occupies over 2,000 acres of the Shillim landscape, which has been regenerated over two decades through native tree planting, water restoration, and wildlife return.

Core Offering

The retreat offers personalised wellness journeys ranging from 2 to 28 days, structured into distinct programmes that address specific modern‑life depletions. Each pathway is prescribed by a certified team of doctors led by Dr Shaji Pampalayam, Chief Wellness Officer. The nine curated pathways are:

  • Emotional Resilience – combines yoga psychology, Ayurveda, mind‑body therapies, and clinical guidance to regulate the nervous system.
  • Ayurvedic Panchakarma – classical Ayurvedic cleansing and renewal using personalised therapies, nutrition, herbal medicines, and movement.
  • Gut Reset – medically supervised microbiome reset targeting bloating, digestive overload, irregular bowels, and gut resilience.
  • Bio‑Functional Reset™ – assesses movement quality, posture, fitness and recovery, then applies corrective movement, bodywork, yoga, hydrotherapy and functional training.
  • Bio‑Sync Detox – detoxification programme for low energy, inflammation, toxic burden and metabolic fatigue, integrating diagnostics, detox therapies and cellular restoration.
  • Rest & Revive – addresses stress, sleep disruption and lifestyle fatigue through restorative therapies, movement, breathwork and Ayurveda.
  • Yogic Path Retreat – focuses on attention, stillness and meditation using Iyengar‑based yoga, pranayama and Vedanta.
  • Sustainable Weight Management – targets insulin resistance and abdominal weight gain with diagnostics, therapeutic nutrition, blood‑sugar stabilisation and Ayurvedic correction.
  • Essence of Wellbeing – a short restorative reset combining clinical guidance, daily yoga, meditation, Vedanta and nature‑based practices.

Diagnostic and Nutritional Integration

Guest assessments examine metabolic and inflammatory markers, sleep and stress load, cardiovascular health and body composition. Findings guide the selection of Ayurveda as the primary corrective pathway, supplemented by personalised nutrition, therapeutic treatments, yoga, meditation, breathwork, movement and rest.

Culinary Philosophy

Nutrition follows an "Earth‑to‑Plate" approach through The Green Table, Dharana Culinary Studio, and a Tea House & Apothecary, using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients that align with Ayurvedic and modern nutritional principles.

Accommodation and Healing Spaces

Accommodations range from 205 sq. m Garden Pool Villas to 550 sq. m Grand Residences, each with private decks, outdoor showers and optional private pools. Healing spaces include an open‑air Yogshala overlooking the valley, the Dhyana meditation hall, and the House of Healing for consultations across Ayurveda, naturopathy, nutrition and physiotherapy.

Leadership Quote

Gavin de Souza, Managing Director of Writer Corporation & CEO of Dharana, stated: "The idea of luxury is changing. Increasingly, the greatest luxury is having the time, space and expertise to invest meaningfully in yourself. The renewed Dharana has been shaped around this shift… luxury wellness is headed away from excess and towards intention, longevity and experiences that genuinely improve the way you live."
