Digital Science Appoints Charlesworth China Sales Partner
On 5 October 2026, Digital Science announced from London that it has appointed Charlesworth as its strategic sales partner for the Altmetric and Dimensions platforms in China’s scholarly publishing sector.
The announcement notes that China’s local publishing industry has expanded markedly in scale and maturity, with journal publishers strengthening international positions, investing in publishing capability and seeking deeper insight into research reach and impact.
The partnership combines Digital Science’s research technology and data solutions—most notably the Dimensions database, which contains more than 430 million interconnected records covering publications, conference abstracts, grants, patents, clinical trials and other research outputs—with Charlesworth’s extensive knowledge of the Chinese publishing market and its established relationships across publishing clusters, individual publishers and journals.
Altmetric, another Digital Science product, tracks and analyses online engagement with research, providing publishers with metrics on mentions, shares, reviews and reads beyond traditional citations. Together, Altmetric and Dimensions are intended to give Chinese publishers greater access to research information and a broader understanding of the attention generated by their published work.
Michael Evans, CEO of Charlesworth, said that Chinese scholarly publishing has developed significantly, with increasingly ambitious publishers, clusters and journals seeking to build capabilities, strengthen international presence and better understand their position in the global research landscape, and that Altmetric and Dimensions are highly relevant to this next stage of growth.
Stephen Leicht, CEO of Digital Science, described China as an important and rapidly developing part of the global research ecosystem and stated that access to high‑quality research data and insights can support that development, adding that Charlesworth’s market knowledge and relationships make it an excellent partner.
Charlesworth, part of Enago, provides sales, marketing, technology and author services to publishers and the broader research community in China and internationally, aiming to support development and internationalisation of scholarly publishing.
