Launch Overview

Dilmah, the Sri Lankan family‑owned tea company, unveiled its Thambapanni Luxury Collection, an ultra‑premium single‑origin Ceylon tea range crafted exclusively for India. The collection was introduced through invite‑only events held in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai, presented by Chairman Dr. Dilhan C. Fernando and his son Amrit Fernando, representing the second and third generations of the family business.

Product Details

The teas and infusions were developed over a twelve‑month period of rigorous tasting and refinement. Named “Thambapanni” after the ancient name given to Sri Lanka by Prince Vijaya in 543 BC, the range emphasizes provenance, purity, and ethical sourcing. Each ingredient is sourced, hand‑picked, processed and packaged by Dilmah, with the final blends prepared in India for the Indian consumer.

Distribution Model

The collection will be sold through a curated, hospitality‑led distribution network comprising select luxury hotels, specialty cafés and fine‑dining restaurants. Fresh & Honest has been appointed as Dilmah’s exclusive distribution partner in India.

Corporate Philosophy and CSR

Dilmah reiterates its commitment to “kindness and defiance” as articulated by founder Merrill J. Fernando. The company allocates 15 % of its pre‑tax profits to the MJF Charitable Foundation and Dilmah Conservation, supporting initiatives for people and nature. The launch aligns with Dilmah’s broader ambition to elevate fine‑tea appreciation within India’s evolving tea culture and luxury hospitality sector.
