Overview

The humanitarian rehabilitation package announced by UAE‑based Indian entrepreneur Dr Shamsheer Vayalil amounts to Rs 2.6 crore and is intended for the families of workers who died in the Dubai Emirates Road minibus‑truck collision in June 2026. The package provides Rs 26 lakh to each family of the seven deceased workers and additional assistance to injured survivors.

Relief Package Details

  • The assistance was delivered by representatives of Dr Vayalil’s office who travelled to rural locations in Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and to Sri Lanka.

Deceased Workers and Family Support

Telangana (3 workers)

1. Saleem Sayyed Hussain, 51, from Namilikonda, Jagitial district – survived by wife Sayyad Goreebee and three children; one child has health challenges and marriage discussions were underway for his elder daughter.

2. Thirupathi Gollapally Chandraiah, 23, from Thakkallapalle, Jagitial district – survived by his parents; he had been in the UAE for seven months, regularly calling home about work and life adjustments.

3. Abdul Rafiq Abdul Raheem, 37, from Kaddam, Nirmal district – survived by wife Raziya Begum and daughter Rida Fathima; his father Abdul Rahan previously lost two children in a 2015 road accident.

Uttar Pradesh (3 workers)

1. Abdul Rasheed Zakir Husain, 38, from Kopaganj, Mau district – survived by wife Farida Khatoon and three young daughters; he had left for the UAE two months before the accident, promising it would be his last journey abroad.

2. Markandey Chauhan Bhajjan Chauhan, 39, from Khurahat, Mau district – survived by wife Sarswati Devi and three children, including 17‑year‑old Ankita Chauhan who completed Grade 12; Dr Vayalil video‑called the family and pledged to support Ankita’s BSc Nursing studies and later bring her to the UAE.

3. Mohammad Saqib Liyaqat Ali, 31, from Sahaspur, Bijnor district – survived by his mother and sisters; he had been in Dubai for eight months as an aluminium fabricator, hoping to support his family.

Sri Lanka (1 worker)

  • Samuvel Rengasami, 34, from Mullaitivu district – sole breadwinner, survived by wife Rajarathnaraja Jeevarani and a young daughter; a representative met the family in Colombo.

Injured Survivors Assistance

Nine injured workers received financial assistance calibrated to injury severity and recovery needs. The injured cohort includes:

  • Eight Indian nationals: three from Uttar Pradesh, two from Rajasthan, and one each from Kerala, Telangana, and Bihar.
  • One Nepali national.

Four of the injured received the amount while in the UAE; three who were in India had the support transferred to their accounts; two critically injured workers still undergoing treatment in Dubai also received the support in their accounts.

Education Support Commitment

During the visit to Uttar Pradesh, Dr Vayalil specifically assured Ankita Chauhan that her nursing education would be funded and that the family would be welcomed in the UAE after she completes her course.

This release, issued by VPS Health on 6 July 2026, underscores the entrepreneur’s direct involvement in delivering humanitarian aid to migrant‑worker families across India and Sri Lanka following the Dubai tragedy.
