DS Group Announces Launch of W Hotels in Delhi NCR
The Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), a diversified FMCG conglomerate founded in 1929, disclosed a strategic partnership with Marriott International to introduce the W Hotels brand to the Delhi National Capital Region. The venture will comprise a 200‑room luxury hotel situated near Indira Gandhi International Airport, within the Aerocity hospitality corridor, and is scheduled to open in the second half of 2027.
The development carries an estimated capital outlay of Rs 400 crore, representing the first W Hotels property in Delhi NCR and the second W Hotels location in India after the brand’s entry in Goa. The hotel will embody the W brand’s design‑forward, lifestyle‑led ethos, featuring avant‑garde interiors, a high‑energy W Lounge, and music‑infused social spaces intended to appeal to a new generation of luxury travellers.
In remarks, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of DS Group, emphasized the sector’s growth trajectory, noting that India’s hotel penetration stands at approximately 0.27 keys per 1,000 people, far below the global average of 2.2 keys per 1,000. He described the project as a milestone aligned with DS Group’s long‑term vision of delivering unparalleled guest experiences.
Mr. Nathan Andrews, Business Head – Hospitality for DS Group, outlined the company’s broader expansion blueprint, targeting 10‑12 hotels by fiscal year 2029 and aiming to double its overall room inventory by the same horizon. He indicated that the Rs 1,000 crore hospitality investment planned over the next few years will be concentrated in luxury and mid‑scale segments across Tier‑I and Tier‑II cities, with the Aerocity location chosen for its strong RevPAR growth and connectivity.
Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia at Marriott International, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that the W Hotels debut in Delhi NCR will introduce a bold new expression of luxury to a dynamic market and aligns with Marriott’s commitment to differentiated, high‑quality hospitality experiences.
DS Group’s existing hospitality footprint includes six operational properties: Namah Nainital, Namah Jim Corbett, Radisson Blu Guwahati, Intercontinental Jaipur, Renaissance Bengaluru, and Holiday Inn Express Kolkata. Beyond hotels, the group operates across food and beverage, confectionery, mouth freshener, agri, luxury retail, and other businesses, with flagship brands such as Catch, Pulse, Silver Pearls, and L’Opera.
The group also highlights its ESG credentials: its headquarters have earned LEED Platinum certification and LEED Zero Carbon certification from the US Green Building Council, and the company reports a water positivity index of 1.8 across 30 Indian locations.
Overall, the announcement signals DS Group’s commitment to expanding its premium hospitality portfolio, leveraging the global cachet of the W Hotels brand to capture growing domestic travel demand and address the pronounced supply‑demand mismatch in India’s premium hotel segment.
