The Art of Living, through Vyakti Vikas Kendra India (VVKI), partnered with Dynapac Company to plant 1,360 saplings on three acres in Hanumanthapura village, Karnataka, along NH‑48.
Twelve native species were selected: Neem, Arjuna, Bamboo, Tamarind, Mahua, Jackfruit, Karanja, Amla, Banyan, Audumbar (Indian Fig), and Jamun varieties, chosen for soil fertility, water conservation, pest control, biodiversity and livelihood benefits.
The plantation process involved site preparation, pit digging, organic soil enrichment, spaced planting, watering, protection measures, and ongoing monitoring by Dynapac employees, VVKI volunteers and local residents.
Expected environmental impacts include increased green cover, improved biodiversity, better soil moisture retention, reduced erosion and enhanced climate resilience.
Social impacts comprise heightened environmental awareness, greater youth and volunteer participation, and stronger community ownership of ecological initiatives.
Long‑term economic benefits anticipate future income for locals from fruit‑bearing trees and commercially valuable species such as Bamboo and Mahua.
Sustainability measures include regular watering schedules, periodic monitoring, organic fertilisation and community‑based protection mechanisms to ensure high sapling survival rates.
