Efectis, a global leader in fire safety and explosion risk management, officially launched its Indian subsidiary, Efectis India, on 23 September 2026 in Chennai. The launch follows the acquisition of a majority stake in AADIT, a fire‑testing institute founded by entrepreneurs Anil Agarwal and Jothi Ramalingam. The event was organized with the support of Business France and attended by the French Consul General in Puducherry and Chennai, Etienne Roland‑Piègue, along with industry, government, academic and French‑Indian business representatives.
Facility Details
The new Chennai facility is the first international fire testing laboratory in India. It is staffed by 300 Efectis fire‑experts and conducts fire tests in accordance with Indian, European and other international standards. Efectis Group brings over 70 years of experience in fire safety, operating 350 professionals across 28 offices, eight fire testing laboratories, and serving as a certification body in 35 countries. In 2025, the Group performed more than 20,000 tests worldwide across sectors such as construction, infrastructure, transport, energy, logistics, industry, batteries and nuclear facilities.
Services Offered
Efectis India will provide a comprehensive portfolio that includes fire safety engineering, testing, certification, inspection, risk assessment, technical audits, training and regulatory compliance support. The subsidiary aims to serve developers, manufacturers, infrastructure operators, industrial facilities, energy‑transition projects, battery technologies and other critical infrastructure. It will also assist national and regional public authorities in addressing evolving fire and explosion safety challenges using modern scientific assessment methods.
