Envision Energy Gains IEC 62443‑3‑3 SL2 Certification for Wind Farm Control System
On 25 September 2026, at the WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, Envision Energy announced that its wind farm control system has been awarded the IEC 62443‑3‑3 Security Level 2 (SL2) certificate by TÜV SÜD. The certification validates key elements of the system, specifically the SCADA, Power Plant Controller (PPC), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and associated industrial network devices, extending independently verified security from core control components to the overall wind farm system level.
IEC 62443 is an internationally recognised series of cybersecurity standards for industrial automation and control systems; the IEC 62443‑3‑3 part addresses system‑level security requirements, encompassing components, networks and security mechanisms that must operate cohesively within a control system. Envision’s cybersecurity portfolio now includes:
- Secure Development Lifecycle certified to IEC 62443‑4‑1;
- SCADA, PPC and PLC certified to IEC 62443‑4‑2 SL2;
- Wind farm control system certified to IEC 62443‑3‑3 SL2;
- System Security Integration and Maintenance Service capabilities certified to IEC 62443‑2‑4.
Yimin Lou, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Envision Energy, stated that “as wind becomes an increasingly critical part of future energy systems, cybersecurity is fundamental to the safe, reliable and resilient operation of wind assets” and described the certificate as a foundation for continuous improvement and greater resilience for customers. Frank L. Blaimberger, Vice President Global Innovation Lead for Digitized Compliance Solutions and Connected Systems at TÜV SÜD, added that the accelerating energy transition is driving digitalisation of critical infrastructure, making cybersecurity essential for trust in wind energy technologies.
