Announcement

On 6 November 2026, EPG Modular Data Center announced the topping‑out of its new Free Industrial Zone (FIZ) factory located in Senai Airport City (SAC), Johor, Malaysia. The ceremony marked the placement of the final structural beam and was attended by representatives of the Johor State Government, SAC, other government agencies, business partners, customers, financial institutions and investment firms.

Facility Details

The FIZ factory represents an investment of approximately US$120 million and occupies a total built‑up area of 107,450 square metres, of which 70,000 square metres are dedicated to production space. Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Once operational, the site is expected to employ more than 800 local workers. The master plan comprises five distinct buildings: a sheet‑metal production unit, a power‑transfer‑unit (PTU) product facility, a diesel‑generator manufacturing unit, a final‑assembly hall, and combined research‑and‑development and office functions. The factory will manufacture modular data‑center (MDC) shelters together with supporting equipment such as diesel‑generator sets and PTU power modules.

Manufacturing Technology

Designed for flexible, digitally enabled production, the plant will integrate advanced automation equipment, intelligent control systems and automated welding technology. Automation is targeted at a minimum of 80 % across processes that include pretreatment, laser cutting, robotic welding and dust‑free coating. A modular line design will allow the accommodation of multiple product types and specifications. Digital platforms will interlink supplier‑relationship management (SRM), product‑lifecycle management (PLM), manufacturing‑execution systems (MES), quality‑management systems (QMS) and warehouse‑management systems (WMS). Digital‑twin technology will provide real‑time production visibility and traceability, while intelligent sensing and real‑time alerts will enhance workplace and equipment safety.

Strategic Rationale

By consolidating the production of MDC shelters and critical‑power equipment in Malaysia, EPG aims to bring capacity closer to its Southeast‑Asian customer base, improve coordination of production and assembly, respond more effectively to project schedules and deliver greater flexibility in meeting diverse client requirements.

ESG and Compliance

EPG has committed to responsible operations at the new facility, emphasizing resource efficiency, waste reduction, environmental protection, employee safety, local talent development and collaboration with Malaysian suppliers and partners. The company will operate in full compliance with Malaysian laws, regulations and its own ESG management requirements, embedding environmental, social and governance principles into decision‑making, compliance and risk‑management processes.
