Swedish gaming company Evolution AB (ticker EVOG) experienced a share price increase of over 4% on Monday after its largest shareholder, the investment fund Candle Lake, raised its ownership to 30.02%, crossing the mandatory takeover trigger under Swedish regulations.

Candle Lake purchased an additional 2.05 million Evolution shares, bringing its total holding to 59.8 million shares, which represents 30.02% of the company’s issued share capital. Under Swedish takeover rules, surpassing the 30% threshold obliges the shareholder to either launch a mandatory takeover offer within four weeks or reduce its voting rights below the threshold.
Market Reaction
Following the disclosure, Evolution’s stock rose more than 4% on the day of the announcement. The share price has also gained 4.5% during the current month and is up 11.3% year‑to‑date through July 24.
Share Repurchase Activity
Between 20 July and 24 July, Evolution AB repurchased 1,023,577 of its own shares, as disclosed in a company filing. The buy‑back increased the company’s treasury stock to 8,760,702 shares out of a total of 199,226,613 shares outstanding. Citibank acted as the executing broker for the repurchase on Evolution’s behalf on Nasdaq Stockholm.
