Ahmedabad, August 19 2026 – The Federation of All India Tea Traders’ Association (FAITTA), the national apex body representing tea traders, growers, packers, brokers, wholesalers and retailers, announced a charitable contribution of ₹81.36 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to aid communities affected by the ongoing floods in the state.

Leadership and Delegation

The contribution was announced by FAITTA Chairman Paras Desai, who also serves as Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. Desai led a FAITTA delegation that met with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday. During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Chief Minister on key issues facing the tea trade and industry, reiterated the fraternity’s commitment to support flood‑affected families, and conveyed the relief donation.

Call for Wider Support

FAITTA further appealed to regional tea associations across the country, urging them to contribute to the relief effort and demonstrate collective solidarity during the disaster.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated FAITTA’s generous contribution and acknowledged the association’s spirit of solidarity with the flood‑hit population.
