FanToPark Play Highlights Sports Participation Trends in Delhi‑NCR
On 26 September 2026, FanToPark issued a press release from Gurugram announcing that its FanToPark Play vertical is providing certified coaching to more than 1,000 children across over 95 residential societies in Gurugram, Noida, Dwarka and the wider National Capital Region (NCR). The data shows that taekwondo is the most popular sport, representing 25 % of all participation, while badminton follows closely at 22 %. Together these two disciplines account for nearly half of the sports activity among children in the surveyed societies.
Skating ranks third with a 12 % share, football 10 %, table tennis 8 %, tennis 6 % and basketball 5 %. The remaining participation is split among cricket, yoga, swimming and Zumba. When compared with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic programme, eight in ten of the children are training in a sport that will be contested at the Games, including taekwondo, badminton, football, table tennis, tennis, basketball, swimming and cricket. Cricket’s Olympic appearance is notable because it returned after a 126‑year gap, having been contested only once in Paris 1900.
The release also references India’s broader Olympic ambitions: Ahmedabad has been nominated as the host city for the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with a final decision expected in 2029. Critics often argue that India’s Olympic strategy is top‑down, focusing on elite athletes and stadiums rather than grassroots development. FanToPark’s data illustrates a grassroots base emerging through structured, in‑building coaching programmes that bring certified coaches directly to residential towers.
Founder Amit Purohit emphasized this point, stating: “A father who played gully cricket his whole life is signing his daughter up for taekwondo/skating. He cannot coach her, and he cannot play it with her, and he is doing it anyway. The appetite was always there. What was missing was somebody bringing the coach to the building in a very structured, consistent manner. That is what we are trying to solve.”
