Fidelity International announced creation of a Miyawaki urban forest in Gurugram with 15,000 native saplings over 11,873 sqm.
The forest aims to sequester 250‑280 tonnes CO₂ annually, provide 2‑3 °C cooling, boost groundwater recharge 5‑15 %.
Fidelity and CATCH Foundation will maintain the site for three years, using drip irrigation saving 40‑60 % water and targeting >95 % sapling survival.
The initiative, inaugurated on 1 May by Fidelity leaders, underscores the firm’s CSR focus and aims to enhance urban biodiversity and climate resilience.
