Launch Overview

Fieldmarshal P.M. Diesels Pvt. Ltd, headquartered in Rajkot, Gujarat, announced the launch of India’s first ARAI‑approved Tractor Emission Stage V (TREM V) compliant single‑cylinder diesel engines in the 15 HP and 18 HP categories. The announcement was made on 15 October 2026 and is positioned as a milestone in the company’s more than six‑decade engineering journey.

Technical Features and Compliance

Both engines incorporate an indigenously developed exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that enables compliance with the latest TREM V emission limits for carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter and particle number. The engines are designed for compact tractors and other agricultural machinery, offering cleaner technology, improved fuel efficiency, durability, compact packaging, efficient cooling and ease of maintenance. Fieldmarshal has filed multiple national patents related to the TREM V engine technology, underscoring its focus on indigenous R&D and intellectual‑property creation.

Market Target and Share Objectives

The new power units are aimed at India’s below‑20 HP tractor segment, which accounts for roughly 3 % of the total tractor market and has an estimated annual volume of 40,000–45,000 units. Fieldmarshal currently serves this segment through its Shridev tractor range of 12 HP, 15 HP and 18 HP models and intends to capture a 10–15 % share of the segment over the next three years. The company also plans to introduce tractors up to 30 HP in the near term and eventually expand its tractor portfolio to 100 HP.

Production Capacity and Export Footprint

Fieldmarshal’s engine‑manufacturing capacity now exceeds 160,000 units per year, while its dedicated Shridev tractor facility can produce up to 100 tractors per day. The group already exports its products to more than 60 countries and is developing Euro‑V‑compatible engines for export markets, with a longer‑term roadmap that extends engine development up to 100 HP.

Strategic Partnerships and OEM Relationships

The company operates a joint manufacturing collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra at its Shapar facility and supplies engines as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to leading tractor makers Sonalika, ACE and KAMCO. These relationships reinforce Fieldmarshal’s position in the domestic tractor ecosystem and support its export ambitions.

Future Roadmap and Diversification

Beyond the immediate engine launch, Fieldmarshal intends to diversify across multiple product categories, including advanced engines, higher‑horsepower tractors, agricultural mechanisation equipment, garden tools, water‑solution systems, clean‑energy and energy‑storage solutions under the Fieldmarshal‑Voltuel brand, as well as cleaning and infrastructure equipment and electric‑vehicle (EV) platforms. The clean‑energy arm plans to develop battery energy storage systems (BESS) and expand solar and grid‑connected power offerings.

Regulatory Context – TREM V

TREM V is India’s next‑generation emission standard for off‑road agricultural equipment, analogous to BS‑VI for road vehicles. Compliance requires meeting prescribed limits for CO, HC, NOx, PM and particle number, and engines must undergo type‑approval and conformity‑of‑production testing under AIS‑137 and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.

Management Comment

Director Rishi Patel stated that the launch represents an important milestone in Fieldmarshal’s engineering journey, highlighting the company’s six‑decade focus on dependable products suited to real operating conditions. He emphasized that the ARAI‑approved 15 HP and 18 HP engines, together with the accompanying patent filings, demonstrate the growing capabilities of indigenous Indian engineering and reinforce the firm’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make‑in‑India. Patel also outlined the broader ambition to expand the Shridev brand across multiple horsepower categories and to leverage the company’s engineering heritage for next‑generation customers in India and globally.
