TDS Procedures for Resident Shareholders
Individual Residents
- Exempt from TDS if total dividend for year does not exceed ₹10,000
- 10% TDS applies if dividend exceeds ₹10,000
- 20% TDS if PAN not provided/registered or PAN not linked with Aadhaar
- Form 121 declaration available for exemption
Non-Individual Residents
Specific exemptions with required documentation:
- Mutual Funds: No TDS with self-declaration, PAN and SEBI registration certificate
- Insurance Companies: Declaration of beneficial interest with PAN and IRDAI registration
- Category I & II AIFs: Self-declaration of exempt status with PAN and registration certificate

- Other exempt entities: Documentary evidence supporting exemption claim
TDS Procedures for Non-Resident Shareholders
- Standard TDS rate: 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess
- Option to apply Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) rates if more beneficial
- Required documents for DTAA benefits: SEBI registration (for FII/FPI), Tax Residency Certificate, Form 41, PAN copy, self-declaration format
- Specific requirements for Singapore residents regarding Article 24 limitation
Documentation Deadline
- Cut-off date for submission: August 10, 2026 by 11:59 PM IST

- No communications accepted after deadline
- Incomplete/unsigned forms will not be considered
Additional Requirements
- Shareholders must update details with depository participants (dematerialized) or RTA (physical)
- Physical shareholders must provide PAN, contact details, bank account details, specimen signature for electronic payment
- TDS certificates will be emailed to registered email IDs post-payment
- Shareholders responsible for any tax demands arising from misrepresentation
