Event Overview

The Freedom Walk 2026, organized by Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi, marked India’s 80th Independence Day by inviting senior citizens aged 60‑90 to a community wellness walkathon. Over 700 registrations were received, and participants could select either a 3 km or a 5 km route, both starting and ending at the hospital premises.

Medical Support and Safety Measures

A 65‑member medical team comprising 30 doctors, 35 nurses, paramedics and physiotherapists was deployed on site. The team operated physiotherapy stations, mobile medical units, and conducted pre‑event and post‑event health checks for all walkers. Safety provisions also included guided warm‑up and warm‑down sessions, as well as Zumba activities.

Specialist Preventive Health Consultations

The walk served as a preventive health touchpoint, offering attendees one‑on‑one consultations with senior specialists: Dr Sourabh Kulkarni, Director & HOD‑Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement; Dr Soumyan Dey, Director‑Urology & Uro‑Oncology; and Dr Prashant Bhamare, Director‑Obstetrics & Gynecology.
