Overview

Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi – a member of the Fortis Healthcare network and part of IHH Healthcare – launched an expanded phase of its community‑focused CPR outreach titled “Har Ghar Hero”. The programme was timed with the ten‑day Ganpati festival and aimed to turn ordinary citizens into first responders in homes and neighbourhoods across Navi Mumbai.

Programme Reach and Locations

The initiative directly engaged more than 25,000 individuals across residential societies, educational institutions, corporate offices and Ganpati pandals. Community locations included Vashi Cha Ganjraj, Navi Mumbai Cha Raja (Vashi, Sec 17), Juinagar Cha Raja, Friends Group Seva Sanstha, Shri Ganesh Mitra Mandal – Koparkhairane (Sec 10), Sarvajanik Utkarsh Mitra Mandal – Koparkhairane (Sec 9), Ichapurti Ganesh Mandal – Sanpada, and Sonar Cha Raja. Residential outreach covered Moraj Residency (Palm Beach Road, Sanpada), FAM CHS, Kalash Udyan CHS, Balaji Garden CHS (Koparkhairane) and Himachal CHS (Vashi). Educational sessions were held at Navi Mumbai Vidyalaya (English Medium), SIES College, Tilak College and Anjuman‑I‑Islam College.

Impact and National Context

The press release noted that by‑stander CPR rates in India remain low, ranging from 1.3 % to 9.8 %. It cited studies indicating that immediate CPR can improve a cardiac‑arrest victim’s chance of survival by two to three times. By bringing practical CPR demonstrations to the places where people live, study and work, the programme sought to raise confidence and preparedness for the critical first minutes of a cardiac emergency.

Ongoing Training Commitment

To sustain the effort beyond the festival, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi will conduct focused CPR training sessions every Sunday from 4 pm to 5 pm throughout October 2026.
