Freddie Mac reported 30‑year fixed mortgage rate rose to 6.30% on Thursday, up from 6.23% the week before.
The 30‑year rate a year ago was 6.76%, while the 15‑year rate now averages 5.64%, up from 5.58% last week.
Chief Economist Sam Khater said purchase applications are over 20% above year‑ago levels, helped by modest rate declines and higher inventory.
