GAIL (India) Limited's Board of Directors, in its meeting held on 30th October 2026, approved the transfer of six City Gas Distribution (CGD) Geographical Areas from GAIL India Ltd to its wholly-owned subsidiary, GAIL Gas Ltd.
The board meeting commenced at 11:00 a.m. and concluded at 02:25 p.m. on 30th October 2026.
The specific geographical areas approved for transfer are:
- Varanasi
- Patna
- Ranchi
- East Singhbhum
- Cuttack
- Khordha
The transfer will be executed through a slump sale arrangement on a going concern basis, pursuant to the execution of a Business Transfer Agreement. The effective date of transfer has been set as 1st January 2027.
