Doris Fisher, co‑founder of Gap Inc, died at age 94, announced by CEO Richard Dickson.
Fisher and late husband Donald opened first Gap store in 1969 San Francisco, selling Levi’s jeans, records, and cassette tapes.
Gap now runs ~3,570 stores worldwide (2,500+ company‑run, 1,000+ franchised) with brands Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta, generating $15 bn annual sales.
Fisher served as merchandising consultant until 2003, board member until 2009, later honorary lifetime director.
