Gemtek and Dixon Advance Strategic Collaboration to Expand Optical Connectivity Business in India
On September 1, 2026, Gemtek Technology Co., Ltd. announced from Taipei that it is deepening its strategic collaboration with Dixon Technologies (India) Limited through their existing joint venture in India. The partnership will expand localized manufacturing of optical transceivers, bidirectional optical sub‑assemblies (BOSA) and other high‑speed optical connectivity solutions, targeting the broadband, telecom, cloud, data‑center and AI‑infrastructure markets both in India and globally.
Gemtek will contribute its expertise in optical communications, photonic integration (including its EIC‑PIC technology) and product development, while Dixon will provide large‑scale manufacturing capacity, robust supply‑chain management and an established market presence in India. Together they aim to create a scalable production platform that supports solutions ranging from 1 Gbps to 1.6 Tbps, with a roadmap that includes 800 Gbps and 1.6 Tbps next‑generation photonic integration technologies to meet rising demand for high‑bandwidth, AI‑driven workloads.
The collaboration aligns with India’s emphasis on domestic manufacturing of high‑speed optical components, enhancing geographic diversification of Gemtek’s global production footprint and strengthening supply‑chain resilience. By leveraging Dixon’s design‑focused, large‑volume manufacturing capabilities, the joint venture seeks to deliver cost‑effective, locally produced optical transceivers and BOSA, reducing reliance on imports.
Gemtek will publicly display its expanded 1G‑to‑1.6T optical connectivity portfolio at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, scheduled for October 7‑10, 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi (Hall 2, Booth B1). The exhibition will feature optical transceivers, SFP modules, BOSA and the forthcoming 800 Gbps and 1.6 Tbps photonic integration solutions aimed at broadband, telecom and AI data‑center applications.
