Launch of Coimbatore’s First Geriatrician‑Led Skilled Nursing Facility

On June 17, 2026, Geri Care, described as India’s pioneer in integrated eldercare, officially opened a 100‑bed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Long‑term Care Hospital dedicated exclusively to senior citizens in Coimbatore. The centre is situated at Lakshmi Mills Junction opposite Lulu Mall and is purpose‑built to meet the evolving healthcare needs of older adults.

The facility operates as a Geriatric Multispecialty Outpatient Clinic equipped with ECG, Echo, Ultrasound, Pharmacy, Labs, Vaccinations, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation services for the surrounding community. It provides a full continuum of care that includes assisted living, post‑surgical care, post‑hospitalization recovery, rehabilitative care, dementia care, palliative care, respite care and day‑care services, all delivered by staff trained in the science of ageing.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Raja Sabapathy, Director of Ganga Hospital; Shri G. Soundararajan, Chairman of C.R.I. Pumps; Shri V. Lakshminarayanasamy, Managing Director of Suguna Group; and Dr. Lakshmipathy Ramesh, Founder and Managing Director of Geri Care. Dr. Ramesh emphasized that the centre bridges the “missing middle” gap in eldercare by offering continuous medical supervision and rehabilitation outside an acute hospital setting. Dr. Sabapathy highlighted the necessity of specialized geriatric care, while the industry leaders from C.R.I. Pumps and Suguna Group underscored the social importance of providing dignified ageing solutions in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore is emerging as a preferred retirement destination due to its climate, healthcare ecosystem and quality of life, creating rising demand for structured eldercare. Geri Care’s expansion into the city aims to strengthen access to specialized geriatric services across the region.

Company Background

Founded in 2018 by geriatrician Dr. Lakshmipathy Ramesh, Geri Care is the first Indian healthcare network focused solely on senior citizens. Its team collectively holds over 150 years of geriatric practice experience and currently serves more than 75,000 elders across multiple cities. Geri Care also operates India’s first multi‑specialty hospitals exclusively for senior citizens.

Demographic Context
