The cheque was presented to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel by Shri Ajay Bhadu, IAS, Managing Director of GMDC, in the presence of Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Chairman of GMDC & Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister, along with other senior government officials.
The final dividend of ₹9.50 per equity share (475% on face value of ₹2 per share) was recommended by the Board of Directors on May 14, 2026, and approved by shareholders at the Company's 63rd Annual General Meeting held on September 30, 2026.

The dividend follows GMDC's reported standalone profit after tax (PAT) of ₹990.81 crore for FY 2025-26, compared to ₹687.92 crore in FY 2024-25. The current year's profit includes an exceptional gain of ₹522.65 crore from input tax credit following GST rate rationalization on lignite.
The total dividend corresponds to approximately 30% of standalone PAT, in keeping with GMDC's commitment to the Government of Gujarat's progressive dividend policy for State public sector enterprises.
Including this payout, GMDC's dividends to the Government of Gujarat across the last five financial years (FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26) total more than ₹1,050 crore.
The Managing Director, Shri Ajay Bhadoo, commented that the dividend reflects the financial discipline GMDC has built over the years and emphasized the company's focus on strengthening its lignite business, advancing coal and critical mineral projects, and growing responsibly.
Lignite remains the mainstay of GMDC's business, with the company also maintaining a diversified portfolio spanning three coal blocks in Odisha, copper and rare earth elements projects, and 205.9 MW of wind and solar capacity.
