Goldman Raises Asia‑Pacific Equity Target to 1,120
Goldman Sachs has increased its target for the MSCI Asia Pacific Index to 1,120 points, up from the previous target of 1,080 points. The firm states that this new target represents a 26 % price gain from the index’s current level.
The upward revision is attributed to higher earnings forecasts across the region, with Korea and Taiwan providing the most significant adjustments. Goldman highlights that strong earnings growth in the technology sector, attractive valuations in selected markets, and improved positioning after the recent third‑quarter market correction underpin the positive outlook for Asian equities.
Despite the bullish stance, the bank cautions that near‑term volatility may continue. It cites rising global bond yields, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and the upcoming United States midterm elections as potential sources of market turbulence.
Goldman expects a more favorable environment once these events subside and recommends that investors employ derivative strategies to achieve downside protection while still participating in upside potential.
