Google Withdraws from $100M Pentagon Drone Swarm

Google announced on Feb. 11 it would exit the Pentagon’s $100 million drone‑swarm competition, citing insufficient resources.
The withdrawal followed an internal ethics review, with many AI researchers previously opposing use of Google tech for classified military projects.
The Pentagon program, led by SOC’s Defense Autonomous Warfare Group and Defense Innovation Unit, aims to enable voice‑command control of drone swarms.
