Expansion Overview

Gradiant, described as the Water Layer of the AI Economy, announced on 26 August 2026 that its Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Coimbatore, India, will more than double its engineering staff, increasing the workforce from approximately 100 professionals to more than 200.

Capabilities and Strategic Rationale

The expanded center will consolidate multidisciplinary capabilities covering process engineering, detailed design, and project engineering, allowing greater ownership of engineering and design for Gradiant’s global projects across semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals. The company cited Coimbatore’s strong engineering talent pool and industrial heritage as key reasons for scaling operations.

Govind Alagappan, Chief Operating Officer of Gradiant, stated that the Coimbatore location combines strong engineering talent with a deep industrial heritage, making it important for scaling global engineering capabilities. Hari Prasad, Managing Director of India, emphasized that India is becoming increasingly important to Gradiant’s global growth strategy and that the investment will combine India’s talent with the company’s global project pipeline.

Recent Indian Project Track Record

Gradiant highlighted two major Indian installations: a 10,000 m³ per day wastewater recycling plant for a solar photovoltaic manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, and a fully integrated ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and recycling, and zero‑liquid‑discharge facility for a leading U.S. semiconductor manufacturer at its Gujarat site.

Future Development Plan

Over the next three years, Gradiant plans to further build out engineering capabilities in India, with its Chennai and Coimbatore operations forming a strategic engineering hub that will support international projects and water infrastructure development.
