Green SM Launches New Driver Income Model

Green SM, an all‑electric ride‑hailing platform operating in Delhi‑NCR with a fleet of 100 % VinFast electric vehicles, announced a new driver income model aimed at greater transparency and stability. Under the model, drivers who meet the applicable operating conditions receive a weekly base income of INR 7,500, with payments made each Tuesday. In addition, drivers earn a performance‑based incentive based on operating kilometres accumulated during the month. After surpassing a 2,500‑km threshold, each additional kilometre is rewarded at INR 12.5 during normal hours and INR 16 during peak hours; this incentive is paid on the 5th of the following month, creating a dual‑cycle of weekly base pay and monthly kilometre incentive.

The platform displays operating kilometres in real time within the driver app, allowing drivers to monitor progress toward the incentive thresholds. Drivers can also charge their vehicles for free at V‑Green and partner charging stations, substantially lowering running costs compared with internal‑combustion‑engine vehicles.

The announcement references broader challenges faced by ride‑hailing drivers in Delhi‑NCR, including rising fuel costs—some drivers report spending 60‑70 % of earnings on fuel and working 17‑18 hours daily to earn only INR 1,500‑1,600. An International Labour Organization report on platform work in India similarly notes that drivers often cover recurring expenses such as fuel and internet themselves, and may need to work 50‑60 hours per week to achieve a basic income level. By shifting earnings calculation from a trip‑by‑trip basis to an operating‑kilometre basis, Green SM aims to give drivers a clearer estimate of weekly and monthly earnings, enable them to set and track income targets, and reduce reliance on fluctuating fare values.

Overall, the new model is positioned as a means to provide drivers with more predictable cash flow, greater control over working schedules, and a competitive income proposition relative to other ride‑hailing platforms.
