Overview

Green SM announced the rollout of its “Ride 5 Star” service in the Delhi‑NCR region, commencing operations in June 2026. The initiative is positioned as a safety‑centric, predictable ride‑hailing experience specifically designed for female passengers, covering the entire journey from booking to arrival.

Market Context

A 2023 Oxford Economics study of more than 7,000 app‑based ride‑hailing users across five Indian cities, including Delhi, found that four in ten working women reported that ride‑hailing helped them enter the workforce, while one in three said it enabled access to more suitable job opportunities. An earlier 2018 IFC study highlighted that 43% of Indian women limited their use of ride‑hailing services because they did not have an emergency contact number.

Service Features

  • Vehicle Offering: Green SM provides a dedicated Green SM Limo for standard trips and a seven‑seat VinFast Limo Green for families or groups requiring additional space and luggage capacity.
  • Driver Preparation: Prospective drivers complete a full day of classroom training covering electric‑vehicle operation, road safety, customer service, and operating procedures, followed by supervised practical training. Applicants also undergo interviews and driving‑skill assessments. Once onboard, drivers are continuously monitored, receive performance feedback, and are subject to random service‑quality checks.
  • Safety Technology: All vehicles are equipped with an SOS button, complying with Indian regulations, and Green SM is working to improve the speed and consistency of its alert‑response process.
  • Passenger Support: Drivers are instructed to assist passengers with luggage, children, and seat arrangements, reinforcing a predictable and supportive experience throughout the ride.
