Announcement

GT Bharathi announced on 13 August 2026 that the World Trade Centers Association has granted it a licence to develop a World Trade Center‑branded business park in Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu. The licence adds GT Bharathi to a network of more than 300 WTC businesses operating in nearly 100 countries and makes it one of the few developers to carry the WTC name in South India.

Project Scope and Economic Impact

The company plans an integrated, IT‑centric mixed‑use township covering approximately 150 acres. The development is projected to have a total value of about ₹7,000 crore and, when fully built, is expected to create over one million jobs. The masterplan, described by Managing Director Arun Bharathi Arunachalam as a “self‑sustaining live‑work‑learn destination anchored by the WTC business park,” will be executed in phases over roughly ten years and will include commercial and retail spaces, data centres, residential and luxury residential communities, educational institutions and hospitality facilities.

Strategic Significance

Chengalpattu lies in Tamil Nadu’s fastest‑expanding growth belt with strong links to the state’s IT corridor, industrial clusters and upcoming infrastructure projects. GT Bharathi intends to work closely with WTCA members in the region, including WTC Chennai, to link local enterprises to the global WTCA network. WTCA Vice‑President Scott Wang said the new centre will help connect the region’s growing business ecosystem with global opportunities, while WTCA Business Lead Badal Saboo noted that the project strengthens the association’s footprint in one of India’s fastest‑growing trade corridors.

Leadership Comments

Chairman Bharat Kanti Doshi said that being entrusted with the WTC name places GT Bharathi among the world’s foremost commercial landmarks and commits the company to delivering lasting economic value for generations. Arun Bharathi Arunachalam emphasized the ambition to create a destination where careers, industries and communities are built together.

Land Acquisition Invitation

GT Bharathi is actively seeking landowners with parcels of comparable size along the OMR corridor from Thiruporur onward and along the ECR within Chengalpattu district to consolidate the land required for the project.
