Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the milestone event marking the delivery of the 2,000th aero-engine by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Koraput Division, in Odisha on October 06, 2026. The event commemorates nearly six decades of HAL Koraput's contribution to India's aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities and the operational readiness of the Armed Forces.
The event will highlight the establishment of a second production line for Shakti engines with an investment of ₹218 crore. This additional production capacity is designed to support the growing requirements of indigenous helicopter platforms, specifically the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter.
This milestone underscores the Government's vision of transforming India from a buyer of defence equipment into a designer, developer and manufacturer of defence systems. Building indigenous aero-engine capability represents a critical component of this vision due to the strategic importance and technological complexity of propulsion systems.
The event will be attended by Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), and Shri Ravi K, CMD of HAL, among other dignitaries.
