Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the delivery of the 2,000th aero-engine by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's Koraput Division in Odisha on October 06, 2026, marking nearly six decades of the division's contribution to India's aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities and Armed Forces' operational readiness. The event will highlight the establishment of a second production line for Shakti engines with an investment of ₹218 crore, which will support growing requirements of indigenous helicopter platforms including the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter. This milestone underscores the Government's vision of transforming India from a buyer of defence equipment into a designer, developer and manufacturer of defence systems, with indigenous aero-engine capability being a critical component given the strategic importance and technological complexity of propulsion systems. The event will be attended by Shri Mohan Charan Majhi (Chief Minister of Odisha), Shri Sanjeev Kumar (Secretary, Defence Production), and Shri Ravi K (CMD, HAL), among others.
