Harvey, a San Francisco‑based legal‑software startup, announced on 9 September 2026 that it has closed a $550 million financing round that values the company at $15.5 billion. The round was co‑led by new investors Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Existing shareholders Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, a16z, Coatue, Conviction, Elad Gil, Evantic, GIC, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Verified Capital and WNDR also participated, while new participants Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock joined the round.

The company previously raised $200 million in March at an $11 billion valuation.

Acquisition

On the same day Harvey disclosed the acquisition of Guardrails AI, a San Francisco‑based AI security platform for agents. This transaction represents Harvey’s fourth acquisition in the current year; financial terms were not disclosed.

Market Reach and Context

Harvey states that its technology is used by 80 % of the 100 highest‑grossing law firms in the United States. The announcement follows a broader trend of large capital inflows into legal‑tech firms, with Legora raising $550 million at a $5.55 billion valuation in March and Clio raising $500 million at a $5 billion valuation in November. Additionally, a new venture‑capital fund backed by corporate general counsels and the law firm Wilson Sonsini was launched to invest in early‑stage legal, regulatory and compliance technology startups.
