Overview
Hiba Khan, recognized as India’s first female vegan tabla artist, has transitioned from a decade‑long cybersecurity leadership role to full‑time environmental advocacy by heading the Hiba Green Foundation, an initiative she founded under the Hiba Green Voice platform. A UN‑certified Climate Awareness Professional, sustainability educator and public speaker, Khan combines her Computer Science Engineering background with a commitment to cruelty‑free artistic practice, performing exclusively on a synthetic tabla.
Reach and Impact
Since 2014, Khan has been among the first Muslim women in India to publicly champion veganism, and her multifaceted outreach—through climate awareness campaigns, podcasts, digital storytelling and public engagements—has reached more than 25 lakh (2.5 million) individuals across social media, academic institutions and public forums. Her performances and speaking events aim to make climate consciousness emotionally relatable and culturally adaptable for young Indians.
Afforestation Initiative
The foundation’s flagship afforestation mission targets the planting of 100,000 trees by December 2026 to mitigate heatwaves, ecological imbalance and rising climate stress across the country. To date, over 2,000 trees have been planted through community‑led environmental efforts and ecological restoration activities.
Gender‑Focused Climate Action
Khan emphasizes that climate change disproportionately affects women and girls, exacerbating financial hardship, educational discontinuation and menstrual hygiene challenges. In response, Hiba Green Foundation distributes approximately 200 sanitary pads each month to women and girls from economically vulnerable communities while raising awareness of gendered climate impacts.
Public Engagements
Khan has spoken at the Animal Rights Conference at Jawaharlar Nehru University, participated in panels on sustainable tourism and responsible living, and regularly conducts awareness sessions for students and young professionals. Her vision is to simplify complex environmental issues into relatable conversations for the wider public.
