Hindustan Zinc recognizes the higher capital requirements associated with emerging technologies such as EVs and is working with MFL to enable a phased transition to cleaner mobility while ensuring continued participation of local drivers in the transportation network.
Current Green Fleet Status
During FY2026, the company added 42 electric vehicles for transporting materials across its operations. The current green logistics fleet stands at 232 vehicles including:
- 52 electric vehicles (EVs)
- 180 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles
Historical Context
The company pioneered the deployment of battery electric vehicles in underground mining at Sindesar Khurd Mine in Rajpura Dariba, Rajasthan and has subsequently expanded cleaner mobility across mining equipment, material transportation and workforce mobility.
Broader Decarbonization Roadmap
This transition is part of Hindustan Zinc's wider decarbonisation roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 or sooner. The company has increased the share of renewable energy in its power mix to nearly 22% and continues to scale renewable power, electrification, energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies across its operations and value chain.
