Announcement
Hitachi High-Tech Corporation announced the opening of its Advanced-Technology Innovation Center in Mumbai, India, on 1 October 2026. The facility, referred to as the Mumbai Lab, is intended to meet the increasingly sophisticated research‑and‑development and quality‑control requirements of customers in biopharmaceuticals, environmental, material, and other chemical and industrial fields.
Facilities and Capabilities
The Mumbai Lab is operated by Hitachi High-Tech India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of the Hitachi High‑Tech Group. It provides on‑site demonstrations using actual analytical equipment, including spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs, thermal analyzers, amino‑acid analyzers and potentiometric titrators. Customers can obtain application proposals, have their samples evaluated, and receive technical consultation directly at the lab. The centre is situated in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area of Thane, roughly a 60‑minute drive from Mumbai Airport, and complies with Indian safety and environmental standards for chemical analysis.
In 2025, Hitachi High‑Tech established a complementary Advanced‑Technology Innovation Center in Bengaluru that focuses on the semiconductor sector. The Bengaluru site is equipped with electron microscopes such as the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE‑SEM) SU8600, along with other digital technologies, enabling sample evaluation, failure analysis, process verification and collaborative creation.
Together, the two‑site laboratory system creates a unified solution‑provision infrastructure in India, allowing Hitachi High‑Tech to serve the rapidly expanding semiconductor, electronics, and chemical/industrial markets.
Strategic Context and Future Initiatives
Hitachi High‑Tech emphasizes that the Mumbai Lab will collaborate closely with the Bengaluru site to deliver comprehensive analytical solutions, often combining multiple devices to address complex customer challenges. Proof‑of‑concept work using customer samples and application development will be performed before any equipment deployment.
Looking ahead, the company plans to reinforce its customer touchpoints in growth markets by conducting regular hands‑on workshops, partnering with academic institutions, and offering student internships at the Mumbai facility. These activities aim to develop next‑generation human resources and support the advancement of R&D, quality control, and industrial capabilities in India.
